A little about Bethany

Bio

Bethany was born in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1982, just two and a half years before she began to play the violin.  She spent her first ten years studying classical violin with the late Helen Robertson, a 50 year veteran of the Ft. Worth Symphony, who not only nurtured her technically, but also instilled in her a passion for music. Bethany has been performing almost as long as she has been playing. In her sophomore year of college she began to branch out from her precise classical training to worship music, bluegrass, and other genres. In August of 2006, she moved to Nashville, TN to broaden her musical horizons. She frequently plays with Christian author/songwriter Kelly Minter as well as Jonathan & Amanda Noël, serves on the worship team at St. Bartholomew's Church, and freelances for artists including Laura Story and Andrew Peterson.  She released her debut instrumental album, Songs From Along The Way: A Live Recording, in December 2013 that CCM magazine gave 4 stars and kind words. Her sophomore album, a "pandemic project" was birthed and recorded during the COVID lockdowns in 2020 called "Hymns From Home."

She and her husband Keith have a daughter and the whole family enjoys traveling, reading, being outdoors, and spending time with their cat and flock of backyard chickens. They can usually be found hiking to a waterfall, searching out "hidden gem" local restaurants or planning their next trip locally or abroad.

In 2016, Bethany and Keith built an adorable guest house in their 12 South neighborhood of Nashville and began a new chapter as short-term-rental hosts.  Bethany quickly discovered this "side-hustle" actually allowed her a practical application for her love of hospitality and she poured heart and soul into discovering how to host at the absolute highest level possible.  In 2022, they expanded their business to include a second location, a cozy one-bedroom cabin, "The Sweet Retreat at Pigeon Forge" a mile off the parkway in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Bethany has also begun taking on consulting clients to help others on their short-term-rental journeys and has helped launch or re-tool eight properties to date (not counting either of her own).  In 2021, she was named "Most Hospitable Host in Tennessee" by AirBnB and in 2024 The 12 South Carriage House was named on a list of "10 properties in the top 1%" of the (then) 7.7 million active Airbnb listings worldwide.  The Carriage House has also taken home 1st, 3rd, 2nd & 3rd place in the Nashville Scene's "Best Of" contest in 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024 respectively.

Bethany holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Communications from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS and a Masters of Health Education from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, MS.  Although she doesn't often interact with science or health related topics, she credits her long hours in the lab and writing grad school papers as the training ground for developing the organizational skills needed to be an effective host, musician, mother and traveler.
