The Liner NotesDear Listener - I'm still astonished that my childhood dreams of playing "my own show" and having my own album have become a reality. I’m so grateful to the Greensboro Outback Team whose invitation to come play was the springboard for this whole adventure, to Adam Moritz and Gabe Dixon who accompanied me, and for our sound engineers who recorded the whole evening on a whim. I invite you to listen in on a collection of ten tracks from that concert, carefully mixed and crafted by Adam into the project you hold in your hands.
Someone once asked me in college what I loved most about playing violin. My immediate answer was, “Because it’s the only time I feel like my heart-posture is right. If I could live every moment as I do when I play, then I would be living.” And I still feel that way. Every time I draw my bow across the string it resonates in my soul an acute sense of peace and fulfillment that I seldom have encountered outside of playing. It’s a sacred thing, this feeling, like I’m bowing to pray and the notes that pour forth are an offering. Instrumental music is both blessed and constrained by its lack of lyric; as Victor Hugo once said, “Music expresses that which cannot be said, and on which it is impossible to be silent.” To convey the unsayable through melody alone is quite a task. The songs on this album have each spoken to me in some meaningful way over the course of many seasons of life. They are more than a pretty collection of notes cleverly dispensed. They evoke emotions and allow me to breathe. I pray that you, too, can close your eyes and float when you listen, and may the Lord bless you and keep you no matter where you are “along the way.” -Bethany CreditsBethany Bordeaux - Violin
